Para sa & para kay
PARA sa nanay ang damit na ito.(This dress is for mother.)
Ang mga laruan ay para sa mga kapatid ko. ( The toys are for my siblings.)
Nagipon ako ng isang libong piso para sa pagaaral ko. ( I saved a thousand pesos for /the sake/of your studies.)
Nagtinda ang mga estudyante ng mga kandila para sa simbahan. ( The students sold candles for/ the benefit of/the church.
Tinanggap ko ang karangalang ito para sa tatay ko. (I am accepting this honor on behalf of my father.)
'Para' in the examples given above simply means 'for' . It may also mean " for the sake of"; "for the benefit of";"on behalf of", or similar synonymous phrases. Note how 'para sa' is used with nouns and pronouns.
'Para kay' is used with singular names and 'para kina' is used with multiple names of persons.
Mga Halimbawa ( Examples) :
Para kay Maria ang regalong ito. (This gift is for Maria.)
Para kay Ana at Juan ang pagkain. ( The food is for Ana and Juan.)Tinanggap ko and gantimpalang ito para kay Kuya Cesar. ( I am accepting this prize onbehalf of Elder Brother Cesar.)
'Para' may be a difficult word to learn , since it has many different meanings and uses.
It may mean 'Stop!' , and in this particular case , this interjection has been borrowed form theSpanish "PARAR"."Para' also has another meaning in Spanish -'in order to'. Thus:"Magaral ka para makatapos na." (/you/ Study in order to graduate soon.)
'Para' can also mean 'as though' or 'as if' , for example:"Para kang hari kung kumilos." (You act as if /you were/ a king.)
